Newtown Feb 25 -- Mrs. Melville WOOD of this place who was taken to Lafayette a short time ago to have an operation performed died there Thursday morning. Her body was brought here for burial. The woman had been ill for several months and her death was not unexpected Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church here Saturday afternoon and were in charge of Rev. AD Merrell of Terre Haute. The woman is survived by her husband and an adopted daughter.
